Amazing car cut-away illustrations

It always look amazing how unbelievably detailed some car illustrations can be. With the cutaway technique, illustration masters like David Kimble or Kevin Husley create those breathtaking technical views of automobiles.

There is a nice set of that kind illustrations at Cartype
Worth of checking!

The Photosynth Technology by Microsoft

With the collaboration between the University of Washington and Microsoft Research.
Microsoft presents Photosynth is an amazing new technology from Microsoft Live Labs that will change forever the way you think about digital photos.
With Photosynth you can:
Walk or fly through a scene to see photos from any angle.
Seamlessly zoom in or out of a photo whether it's megapixels or gigapixels in size.
See where pictures were taken in relation to one another.
Find similar photos to the one you're currently viewing.
Send a collection - or a particular view of one - to a friend.

Photosynth could connect your photographs into a seamless web of images and information, allowing you to browse a virtual universe of interconnected scenes that constantly evolves and changes over time.

Algorithmic, Systemic, Generative, Contextual by Don Relyea

The Big Hairy Bush print was generated by a custom particle fx application written in image lingo within Adobe Director.

A small gif thumbnail of the President was downloaded and is used by the application for reference. The gif is parsed by the application at runtime grayscale index color values are stored in a lookup table. A particle manager was coded to prevent the application from overloading. The particle manager references the lookup table and based on the lookup table data it assigns a group of hair particles to various locations in the canvas area and initializes them.

"Systemic Abstractors vs. Pubic Realists" is a custom software application that is coded in Adobe Director and C++.
In "Systemic Abstractors vs. Pubic Realists" there are several classes of program objects that battle on the image area for dominance and control of space. The systemic abstractors abstract what has already been drawn.

Google’s GMail security failure screws a Blogger/Designer!

Having had my Gmail hacked this past week, I would like to inform all Gmail users of the security risks. Last year well-known designer/blogger David Airey had his website hijacked (and held at ransom), via the Gmail hack. I am glad David managed to sort his problems out, but without such technical knowledge I am not sure if I would have so much success, very concerning. Read his story
