LittleBigPlanet Design Contest

LittleBigPlanet is a new type of game for the PlayStation 3 in which characters and levels are designed by players, and can then be shared with the world. Sony PlayStation have asked Don't Panic to seek out the best character design from you guys to be transformed into a limited edition six-inch model and given away as part of LittleBigPlanet marketing campaign. This will bring great exposure for you (in addition to the copy of the game and PlayStation3 the winner will also receive).
We've already had level designs from the likes of Build, Kate Moross, Peepshow, Trevor Jackson and Yuko Kondo, so now we're just waiting for you to create a character. Get on with it over at www.dontpaniconline.com

Don't Panic & League Against Cruel Sports design competition

Don’t Panic and The League Against Cruel Sports say ‘Balls to Bullfighting’ design campaign
Don’t Panic and The League Against Cruel Sports have joined forces to launch the ‘Balls to Bullfighting’ creative campaign to find the next big thing in the graphic design world. Do you reckon you have what it takes?
The competition will run from May 19th - July 15th 2008 on the Don’t Panic site www.dontpaniconline.com
All entrants are encouraged to create a powerful design which stretches the creative parameters of the brief while keeping their individual style at the forefront, as we want a design that will be worn proudly to show support and not just another typical ‘t-shirt’ slogan design.
The top 20 voted designs accumulated from the Don’t Panic site will then be up for a grilling by the judging panel made up from the following: a League representative, a Don’t Panic representative, Chelsea College of Art & Design and some very special guests.
So if you think you have what it takes visit www.dontpaniconline.com to get the details in how to enter.

Don’t Panic run rampage around the UK

Don’t Panic Marketing Agency is at it again. To mark the DVD release of the Academy award-winning movie ‘Juno’, Don’t Panic shall be organising a rather unique street team to cause a stir for the occasion.
Street teams are a powerful marketing tool, as they allow interaction with the target audience on a creative and direct level. Don’t Panic’s methods in this marketing and promotional exercise uses wit and attitude on a professional level to create an electrifying buzz and encourage the consumer to play an active part. Many brands, companies and even individuals are creating their own street teams to assist and further brand building.
The Don’t Panic Juno street team will consist of eight strapping young lads dressed in 80’s athletic attire in the style of ‘Bleeker’ from the movie. They will be unleashed in the UK on selected dates in June and places of interest to run rampage around the UK distributing exclusive Juno designed condoms.
Let’s hope it’s not a cold day.
Where to catch the action:
6th & 7th June – Wembley Stadium / Foo Fighters concert
9th June – Oxford St dash, London
13th June – Isle of Wight Festival
26th June - Glastonbury

Don't Panic and Momiji welcomes Yota

Momiji and Don’t Panic are super proud to announce the winner of their worldwide competition to find the hottest new design talent. Up and coming graphic designer Yota Sampastneethumrang was announced as the overall favourite by the judges.
The brief was to design the next three limited edition dolls for cult brand Momiji, based on the theme ‘indulge’. All entries were posted on the Don’t Panic web-site, where members voted for their favourite designs. The competition was a huge success with almost 400 entries and 16,000 votes cast to determine the top ten finalists.
The top ten designs were scrutinised by a specially selected panel of experts at a Leonard Street Gallery judging event. Reading like a ‘who’s who’ from the world of fashion and design, the panel comprised of British fashion super-glossy Pop magazine, Mr Jago – world renowned street artist and designer of Play Nice clothing, head buyer from iconic London store Selfridges, Joanna Zhou- designer of last years smash hit range as well as design representatives from Momiji and Don’t Panic’s Director Nick Agha.
Yota’s winning designs are inspired by his lovely girlfriend, whose favourite indulgence is a decadent English afternoon tea. Yota studied graphic design in Bangkok, before moving to London to complete a one year course at London College of Communication.
The dolls will be available exclusively in Selfridges this autumn. With only 200 limited edition dolls being made for the UK market and the overwhelmingly positive response so far, don’t expect them to be on the shelves for long.
