$100 Logo

Most, if not all of us find ourselves wondering why people undervalue designers' work so often.
The guy replying to this post on Craigslist has obviously had enough and clearly states his point.
Amen, dude.

$100... ouch.
100 dollars.
thats like my hourly rate...
Offers like that happens all over the world...sadly.
I once had a company phone me up to redesign their website, which I thought might be a nice project, until the MD suggested a range of templates to use, I almost threw up. That's one of my pet hates, the so called 'web designer' who rips off templates and charges £299.99, disgusting.
I'm with that guy 100%.
I may live far far away but I share the same problem...
I'm totally with this guy too. He speaks out for many of us in our day by day "confrontation" for the real value of design!
Designers UNITE & FIGHT!!!
Well said
Amen indeed.
I'll back that.
Wow. This guy might be a good logo designer, but he sure isn't a salesman. $100 isn't too far from his rate of $1000. How hard would it be to sell the $100 logo guy on a $1000 logo package? I've done it.
Dear $100 logo guy, if you see this, let's talk. Maybe we can hash something out. Designers aren't always so scary!
Ya, and compared to the Graphics Artists Guilds guidelines, $1000 is even looking cheap.
true true true!
I might re-direct people who are cheeky to ask for cheap work to that page! haha well said my good man!
I used to get people asking me for that same "$100 logo" package. My response was "There are plenty of students at the art institute who would be more than happy to create your logo."
its all about interity.
Not every business needs a great logo or great branding. This "$100 offer person" could own a business to which good branding and identity would be irrelevant - he may be a parts supplier for steel mill equipment, for example. His customers could already trust his product and don't need to be sold on it anymore by good graphics. If that's the case then he's not even looking for a "graphic designer" as the people on this site understand that term to mean. But that's ok for him. Actually he may not even need a new logo at all but may think he needs one for whatever reason.
Yes, good design is valuable, but not everyone needs it. And if they want to get crap design that is their business anyway.
