Biography:

Lorraine has studied fashion to postgraduate level concluding in the acclaimed MA Fashion at Central Saint Martins. She has worked as an artist, fashion designer, fashion stylist and fashion researcher as well as taking part in numerous shows and exhibitions. Recently she has turned her attention to her own business, developing the lyndalorraine look in silks, on canvas and in print.

On Art:
Capturing the moment, whether that be a silent wistful fog in the mountains or an enveloped silent body. Human, urban and rural surroundings are her primary subjects for her drawings, paintings and photography. Lorraine’s first memories are of drawing, she has experimented with photography since her first 110 cartridge camera as a child and has not looked back since. She has carried this passion her whole life. After an official grounding in the arts through school and art foundation she is largely self taught in this area, hungrily seeking out further creative development.

On Fashion:
By taking inspiration from graphic pattern cutters Vionnet and Zandra Rhodes, she uses the simplest geometric forms as a starting point for her womenswear. From the very first pillow dress she made as a young girl, Lorraine has always had a sculptural, organic approach to fashion and draping. She adorns women with combinations of graphic shapes in flowing fluid silk silhouettes and natural embellishments to enhance her dresses and accessories. Her enduring love of vintage clothing brings old fashioned attention to detail mixed in with reckless experimentation lending to energetic and unconventional looks. Her dresses are at their optimum when being worn, moving and alive.
